is a collection of cultural systems, beliefs, and world views that establishes symbols that relate humanity to spirituality and, sometimes to moral values. While religion is hard to define, one standard model of religion, used in religious studies courses, was proposed by Clifford Geertz, who simply called it a "cultural system".[1] A critique of Geertz's model by Talal Asad categorized religion as "an anthropological category".[2] Many religions have narratives, symbols, traditions and sacred histories that are intended to give meaning to life or to explain the origin of life or the universe. They tend to derive morality, ethics, religious laws or a preferred lifestyle from their ideas about the cosmos and human nature. According to some estimates, there are roughly 4,200 religions in the world." "Religionhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_religions_and_spiritual_traditions |
From all the religions of this world there can only be one heaven or place for us when we move on from this earth of ours.
From my limited but brainwashed Baptist upbringing, my God was THE one and if I did not follow him I was going to hell. There are two ways out of this world, up to perfection or down to fire.
But someone has to have the wrong God because I don’t think there are that many heavens out there in that afterlife space.
So if I was now to make a choice of religion I would be very frightened as there are too many Gods to choose from and what if I pick the wrong one. Will I be shown sympathy for picking wrong but because of my true genuine and Godly following, I will be saved anyway as it was purely a picking error or even a historical picking error therefore not even my choice. It was simply, I picked or my family before me picked the wrong God and the real God, I would hope, will take this into consideration.
If I believed that is, I would hope so, because aren’t we are all, no matter what faith, taught the same fundamental principles of living, treatment of others, honesty, life and how we need to act.
And these leaders of our religious faiths, the ones that are going to rule and save our souls, would have to be aware of all the choices in Gods we have.
So this is where my confusion starts and the hypocrisy of most of the followers of any religion is reaffirmed.
As a Baptist Christian following Jesus Christ with his Bible as my book of instruction I would pray and hope that while I know my God is the God, if there was any chance I could be wrong, that the real God when I showed up in front of him would show me leniency and also see by my efforts that it was just the choice of God I got wrong and not anything I have done in my life.
I would actually be praying that if I had committed my life to living by some historic rule book that there was some kind of right of entry.
Because we have one earth, one sun and a huge outer space but I reckon if there is a heaven that there can only be one and it will not be ruled by all our God’s; it will be ruled by only one.
Be nice I say – you don’t know for sure that your one’s the real one. x
