My Journal - MY HOUSE SITTING JOURNEY
The Roxy!
June 2023
A week long stay with Roxy but hopefully back with her again later in the year.
I have to take photos of Roxy asleep because, bless her, it's the only time she is still.
But living with Roxy, I get my steps in exercise every day! Love it x

Back with Juno - A Weekend Stay
March 2023
It's been a long time between visits.. but always happy to be with Juno!! Still the chilled out little soul that I knew in Bondi a few years back.
February 2023 - My Apartment Sold So Back To The Adventure
February 2023 - a three week break to my home, New Zealand.
My apartment sold so I packed up and put my things in storage, headed off for my NZ adventure, knowing when I came home to Sydney, house sitting was going to be my world again.
Very excited to see where the journey takes me after four years of being settled in my own apartment.
I will keep you posted!! x

Cleo
July 2022
Cleo came and stayed with me at my place for two weeks in July 2022.
It was wonderful to have a wise old soul in my home for a couple of weeks, hearing her pottering around and sharng my apartment space with me.
Cleo is going to be 17 years old in June 2023 so it was nice to have her with me and comfortable while her family travelled.

COVID.19 and our new World
March 2020 | February 2022
COVID ended my nearly 10 years of house sitting. No more staying with pets while families travelled.
It was a hard adjustment, having to not only deal with a pandemic but starting a settled and very different lifestyle.
January 2023 and we all feel very different about life that we knew for a few years.
One I hope we will all never have to live again in our or our loved ones' lifetimes.

Back To Greta And Frenchs Forest
February | March 2020

Our world changed and travel stopped... when will we travel again.

Leichhardt, A First With Sousie and Chef
January | February 2020
This was my first ever stay with Sousie and Chef, their parents were able to sneak home to Canada and visit family. Something that was long overdue.
And it was nice to spend a significant amount of time staying in the Inner West of Sydney, always a little different to the North Shore of Sydney.

Shadow And Snowball Have Moved
January 2020
Shadow and Snowball, the regulars and family...
Nothing new to report, they are exactly the same gorgeous little souls as every other time I have looked after them!

My First Ever Interstate House Sit | Seeing In The New Year In Brisbane
December 2019 | January 2020
A school friend was heading home to NZ and asked would I like Christmas and New Years in sunny Queensland.
I thought; why not Tania and said yes. So, this is where I found myself.
Christmas with skies not filled with NSW smoke, that have caused so much loss for so many in our state and one little dog called Tommy.

Lexi, I Always Adore Lexi
December 2019
Lexi... if you scroll through my website; Lexi is such an important part of my house sitting journey so to have nearly two weeks with her before Christmas. Just perfect. Thank you to her Mum! xx
Greta; A New Addition To My House Sitting Family
November 2019
Greta's Mum found me after being referrred by Mischa's family.
A lovely little individual, and very much an only child. Even the little brother and sister from next door loved Greta and visited us on occasion.
And I will be back again with Greta in the New Year... Bring on 2020, and I will be seeing you again Greta.

Back To Maroubra To Dusty and Joe
October | November 2019
Back to the familiar and amazingly cool Dusty and Joe. Everything about these two and this home is now so familiar as I have been back to stay on a number of occasions that is like going home for a visit. And what is even more amazing about this visit is it is in Maroubra and has a wonderful beach to enjoy too.
Love my time in Maroubra as always - thank you to Dusty and Joe's for inviting me back on so many occasions! xx

3 Weeks In Naremburn With Humphrey and Wanda
September | October 2019
After returning from my little adventure in Koh Samui I was lucky enough to come home to these two; Humphrey and Wanda.
I was lucky enough to meet their stunning Mother as part of my day job, she works in the same building as me in Crows Nest. Now I have a new friend and two new stunning furry friends too.
Humphrey was always there waiting for me as I returned from work waiting for his tummy scratch. While Wanda was an eater who liked to change it up every now and then with where she would like her dinner and I was more than happy to accommodate her.
Thank you to Humphrey and Wanda's Mum for letting me spend this wonderful happy and relaxing time with her little ones.
And hopefully I will be back again with you two soon! xx

2019 Where Have You Gone
July | August | September 2019
As I sit and contemplate what to to say.. I think to myself, 2019 where have you gone?
I started my house sitting journey and adventure early in 2011 and now looking at my calendar, my friends and all the pets I have in my life, feel very blessed to be eight years down the track but also, can't believe where the time has gone.
It is very humbling to often have nothing new to share about my adventures with pets because I am constantly returning to families time and time again and don't want to repeat myself. However, I do try to share new photos of each stay no matter how many times I return.
So July, August and September were spent in Wollstonecraft with Lexi; two different stays. Then back to Lane Cove with Pancha.
And then a holiday for me in Koh Samui, Thailand. What an amazingly stunning part of this world we live in, so will share a couple of photos from this holiday of mine.

July With The Regulars
July 2019
July is back with the regulars, three weeks with Snowball and Shadow. They are such a feature and part of my life I have nothing more to say as they are still as spectacular as ever!
Bellevue Hill, Bondi and Juno
June 2019
Juno and Bellevue Hill, both a first. My unexpected stay in this part of this city I live in and with Juno, the one with the stunning green eyes.
Such a gorgeous little girl whom loves the human touch.

My Annual Stop In Lane Cove
May | June 2019
A week or so with Pancha and Lane Cove, my regulars are really becoming part of my extended family.
Some Time In April With Lexi
April 2019
Back with Lexi, the little girl is getting a little older every year I see out with her as part of it. This little girl actually stops people in the street with her happy smile as she takes her walks.
Seeing Out 2018 | Welcoming In 2019
November | December 2018 | January | February | March 2019
My year to date has been filled with many little stays with my families that I now consider close friends. All of whom I have shared stories with below along with many photos.
This time has seen Snowball and Shadow filling my calendar. Stays with these two amazing Burmese cats have also included their teenage sisters (human) while their Mum travels for work. So my time has been filled with four and two legged loved ones.
March 2019 gave me the opportunity to travel abroad for a little international holiday of my own and now settling down in April I have Lexi in Wollstonecraft and Pancha in Lane Cove to look forward to plus some more stays with Snowball and Shadow, including a three week stay with them booked for mid 2019.
I will have many photos to share again soon but don't want to share the same animals over and over again.

The Longest Home Stay | Nearly 3 Months In One Spot
August | September | October 2018
Roseville was home for a little while longer than normal and Mischa was entrusted to me during this time. Mischa, a new friend and a gorgeous little girl whom certainly knew how to talk and purr. Oh and snuggle.
I was fortunate enough to secure a meeting with her owners, which is something that is becoming a little harder due to a lot more house sitters joining this way of life compared to six years ago when I applied for my first sitting adventure. We discussed a number of things, as you would expect but Mischa's owners were first timers so it is always a pleasure to pass on my experiences too.
Roseville for me was treat to secure, with my yoga classes within walking distance, Chatswood so handy and my work in North Sydney I had visions of all that could be accomplished with my art and different projects in between looking after a gorgeous little garden and Mischa of course. Did my plans become reality; no these three months sped by and I almost felt like it was time to move out, after only just arriving.
I have also learnt that when this happens it is also though, a reflection of a carefree and no hassle house sit for myself, the pets and returning families.

Sally and George; Two Years Since We Met
July 2018
Due to a cancellation in my house sitting diary I was able to revisit Lane Cove West and stay with Sally and George. And they are just the same as I remember!
April / May 2016 was my first stay with these two and what a pleasure it has been to come back again.

Spending Time with Pancha
May 2018
Pancha and Lane Cove - this house sit is to be updated but it was so lovely to be back looking after Pancha again; last time was 2013.
And this time, second time round, even better and a whole lot easier because we are old friends...

A St Ives Stopover
March 2018 | Easter
Milo, Abby and some hens were in my care for Easter and this was a first time, ever, stay in St Ives so a four day weekend was perfect.
This was my first time, too, looking after Milo and Abby so by day four as I am about to pack up and leave we find ourselves rather comfortable with each other. Add the hens too; I can very honestly say that my Easter was filled with egg hunting every day.
A new family, a new suburb and some daily Egg hunting was a lovely way to spend Easter 2018.
Plus and worthy of a mention; This house sit was via a community Facebook page called St Ives Community Page and word of mouth (or type really). Milo and Abby's family asked for house sitter recommendations, my good friend recommended me and added this website for this family to check out. So I am pleased that I have kept this diary of my homes and gorgeous pets as it provides a good base for any interested home owners to base their choices on.
April and May 2018 will be done and dusted rather soon I am sure; I have a holiday abroad planned so are taking some time out myself and discovering Vietnam for the first time on a Luxury Escapes holiday. Hence my rather soon and done and dusted comments about our upcoming months, time always disappears too fast when holiday's take me abroad!
So not much to write about St Ives as it was only a short stay with two really lovely and individual cats and some hens, wit:h nothing out of the ordinary to report. St Ives was a lovely quite suburb that should I get invited back to stay I would answer without pause: YES, Yes I will. x

Manly | Impressive Manly In February
February 2018
No pets this time, the wharf and ferry terminal for back ground noise (I find the sounds of new places very interesting because every place is a change on sound along with every other new), the biggest swimming hole directly across the road and in my care too wonderful young men, brothers, funny and witty.
So yes this is another totally new kind of home stay for me, but the planning that Mum had put into her boys prior to leaving would have been crazy busy and mind haze trying to prearrange everything making my stay very easy.
Now that I have a couple of families that I do Carer Home Stays for I have learnt that Mum's (or Dad's in some cases) have memories of champions. There is hats, keys, school cards, recess snacks, drink bottles, gym bags, keys and teeth brushing, to name only a few) that only gets you to the front door each morning. Getting out it seems to added a few more items most days too... like swimming goggles, caps and homework.
And it is not just homework. You need to cover your bases because the simple "Do you have any homework tonight?" no longer works. The question now needs to include and it seems this is not conclusive even "Do you have any homework, projects, tests, study, assignments, speeches, exams, assessments or research?" and I bet I have missed some too. Because missing one will imminently lead to a last minute addition of things to do before getting out the door in the morning "Can I have a note as I have not finished my.... and it is due today?"
And what the heck do I write in these notes... I seriously learn't so much and loved my time and the comical approach to our time together in Manly: Those Young Lads and I!
Thank you for your smiles, your time and the fun we had!!

January In Killara | Booked Annually In Advance
January 2018
And I love my Summer's with Snowball and Shadow, it is just a stunning place to spend the first month of my New Year. This is my fourth consecutive January with these two gorgeous Burmese!
Seeing Out 2017 - Another Wonderful Year
November - December 2017
November and December were a little all over the place but incredibly busy with my house sitting, live in carer and pet sitting and my Monday - Friday day job. There was always something to keep me busy and moving forward toward the new year, with my regular house sitting families planning their 2018 travel and starting to fill my calendar.
I will this year be able to take some time off for Christmas so have even been able to make plans to travel down the south coast of NSW and spend this time with some very close friends. Something that due to my house sitting commitments I have not done for a couple of years now.
Then back to Sydney to begin a month long house sit for the very gorgeous Snowball and Shadow whom are now so familiar with my comings and going that this house sit really does in some ways feel like I am just going home.

My Smallest Responsibility Yet - Suzie
September - October 2017
Suzie the gorgeous little one who just loves company. And a house sit that came with a couple of firsts for me:
Whom, without a doubt, really did missed her Mum but I think made the most of our time together and did end up having a bit of fun with this stranger in her home. She was (or so she appeared to be.... but hey, she may tell a different version entirely) so excited to see me at the end of every work day, loving to be near by and part of everything I was doing, no matter what that might have been. It wasn't long before her wary hesitance towards me, a stranger in her Mum's place, was replaced with acceptance and our routine fell into place, for here on in it was Suzie and I.
Alexandria too is a really lovely part of Sydney with a really family feel to the neighbours on Suzie's street. On our short walks up and down the street I heard on a few occasions from different neighbours or Mothers with their young children voice a confused "I think that's Suzie...". So I felt extremely safe and it was lovely to find neighbours still doing the neighbourly thing of looking out for each other.
A had a wonderful walk on my own one weekend however Suzie stayed home for this adventure, as I went out discovering Sydney. My journey beginning from her home to Darling Harbour, down through Barangaroo, across to Circular Quay, up into Sydney's beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens, with a stop off to view some art at Art Gallery of NSW and from here, back home to Alexandria. A fantastic day out seeing some new and recently developed parts of Sydney along the way.
I was also able to catch up with friends in the city for night out, something I had not done in a while.
So thank you to Suzie for making the most of our stay together and to Suzie's Mum for letting me share Suzie and her home while she was holidaying with her family!!
One day I hope you have me back! xx

Some More Time With Humans In My Care
August 2017
August was a quiet month for house sitting but this freed up my time to live in with two teenage girls while their Mother travelled interstate. The girls had it covered but it was just to have someone around should they need the help and of course that school run in the mornings.
But still busy none the less,
really do take my hat off to parents of our time and the hectic schedules they endure: that here, there and everywhere and still, in some cases, working full time, travelling and making everything come together for others with little consideration of their own personal needs.
Some days I find it hard enough just to get me out the door! x

Freshwater and Learning to Catch a Bus: Just a Bonus
June - July 2017
I have had the chance to discover Freshwater in winter with Bear and Mouse. And I must say Freshwater in Winter is beautiful; Summer would be stunning.
From the first night with these two, there was the three of us in the bed every night: Me and these two which is something I did not expect as on this same first night I could not entice Bear to come inside, let alone near me and Mouse, while she was inside, she too had no interest it seemed in even looking my way. So this on the first night of my stay was an unexpected but lovely surprise waking and finding them with me.
I had left the door ajar so Bear could make her own mind up on this first night as to whether she would come in or not. She did have this right and much to my delight she spent the night in and every night after.
I would wake up some nights after going to bed alone only to find them a short time later sharing the bed with me now and sound asleep.
I understand (and always allow this transition period for new families) that if I just chill for the first day / night (or two) it allows space for the little ones that are not so sure of the suitcases and human that's just moved in, to come safe and comfortable at their leisure. It has and continues to work well this chilled and informal of mine.
Thank you to Bear and Mouse’s human family for letting me stay for many many reasons… I loved every minute and can’t wait to do it again!! xx

Back in Mosman: Evo and Tania Time
May - June 2017
June 2013 I was with Evo for the first time, I just had to scroll down through by My Journal to find this date. A date that actually has made me stop and realise how far into this journey of house sitting and my way of living I am; when it will end I have no idea.
Sadly however it also reminded me that in June 2013 it was a duo, Buxton and Evo. Not long before this house sit Buxton passed away, so this time it was just the two of us. Evo was a lot more attentive and happy of company so I found that I almost had two shadows: my own and Evo.
Evo is a talkative little one, who loves sleeping, chatting: trying to convince me it is dinner time at 3 pm in the afternoon and human contact. This human contact could over my shoulder while lying on the couch, balancing on one knee as I try to eat dinner in front of TV, wrapped around any part of my body or simply hanging out with his paws crossed draped over my leg (my favourite).
And then there was the outlook on Sydney's city: ever changing as the sun passes over this stunning city of mine.
Thank you Evo for an amazing six weeks to start my winter and it was wonderful to be back. x

Snowball and Shadow... and so much more in between!
December 2016 - April 2017
Summer was back in Killara spending time with these to gorgeous personalities and some local squatting possums! The squatters however can only be seen on those really hot days, otherwise they really did keep to themselves. Something that inwardly I am very okay with.
So rather than sounding like a broken record by telling you all that my summer was wonderful and familiar, I have nothing new to write that differs from every other post about my stays with Snowball and Shadow. I have to expect this as if I was to add together all the times I have looked after the homes and pets of my regular clients, based on numbers only, these two would come in at the top.
I love them and every minute with them but always knowing I will be back makes the moving out so much easier.
April 2017 also provided a space in my calendar for a holiday of my own so I am feeling very refreshed, blessed and very lucky to continually enjoy this every changing life of mine!
And now contemplating May2017 - I cannot believe I am here already!

This Feels Like Home
November 2016
I nearly feel like I am telling a little lie saying "Next up - House Sit Maroubra; Dusty and Joe" because to me it feels like I am coming home.
My regulars Dusty and Joe! And everytime I look after them I learn something new about their little lives. I have nothing new to report about their gorgeous selfs and don't want to sound like a broken record by repeating my Maroubra memories with you as this now must be the fifth or maybe sixth time I have spent time with them. AND I LOVE IT!!
Plus I am getting to know the humans that they normally share their home with and a lovely friendship is forming, one which I treasure as friendship is not something I ever expected when I started living this crazy moving life of mine. Something else that I feel so blessed by! xx
Until next time Dusty and Joe, KEEP SAFE x

KIT; A Lady With Her Own Mind and Opinion In The Most Amazing Way!
October / November 2016
Tamarama to start the Summer, Sculptures By the Sea, One Stunning View and then to top it all off there was Kit to keep me company! She even helped me unpack but I think that was to check out what I was moving into her home while at the same time thinking "What is she doing here and where are my real Mum and Dad".
I had met Kit on a number of occasions prior to my stay with her as her Mum is a dear friend of my sister, so while this house sit was uncharted territory for Kit and I, there was from my point of view (Kit may tell you a whole different view) some comfort between us from the beginning.
And I must say there is something about being by the seaside! And Sydney seaside too.
So thank you to Kits partents for my time with your gorgeous girl, she was a stunning little personality from start to finish and I hope she will have me back; One day!!
And thank you for the opportunity to live beside that amazing ocean of ours here in Sydney. xx

Hugo and Lucy; My Long Weekend
October 2016
Along with a big tank full of fish and some serious catch up TV my long weekend this year was spent with some more new friends; Hugo and Lucy.
I met their Mum playing netball this year, which I must add saw us through to the grand final and winners of our division; champions of our division for 2016. Which was a first for me, I have never played in a grand final for anything and I lean't very quickly that no matter how social the team, if you make it this far in one season there is no social when it comes to taking to the court for that final game. And to finish as winners was a wonderful experience for the first time in my life!
But yes back to Hugo and Lucy, after meeting their Mum she asked if I could care for her home and pets while they took a family holiday. Of course I said yes so have now had the pleasure of spending my long weekend and surrounding week with them both. We had a very chilled, laid back non eventful arty weekend together in East Lindfield.
October and spring 2016 has began in a very beautiful and blessed way, I have been staying in a very beautiful home, with some lovely pets doing some long overdue drawing...
And to top it off, I will be ending my October in Tamarama with a lovely little cat call Kit and wee holiday of my own, then back to Maroubra in November to spend some long overdue catch time with some regulars (and favourites too); Joe and Dusty.
I really am overwhelmed that this is nearly the end of another year of this amazing house sitting life I lead... I wonder what my journey in 2017 will teach me as this year has been a really great one!

My Unexpected Week In Summer Hill
September 2016
Steve and Stella; Boy and Girl. And yes Steve is definitely a boy and Stella very much a girl. And what a striking duo they make!
I was accepted to look after Steve and Stella only a few days before I moved in but it was one of the easiest house sits I have taken on at such short notice. I really did enjoy my time, even though it was only a week, learning about their stunning personalities.
So Summer Hill you were a great little place with everything at hand and Steve and Stella, you were the highlight.
Thank you for sharing your home with me while your family were away! A truely unexpected blessing xx

JUNE JULY AND AUGUST; Here There and Everywhere!
July - August 2016
My months of indulging in friends, time away with only one suit case, some sketch pads and my new pencils.
Winter is coming; I think not.... Winter is done and dusted. And it was one of the quickest Winter season's I have ever experienced. Is this a reflection of the positive choices I have made in my life, those that make the cold dark days pass without too much effort? I think so!
My House Sitting journey is still strong but I have also found myself looking after humans, for a very close friend while she travels for business. So with working full time, some short house sitting stays and this new little adventure, my days are very full and fulfilling.

LEXI; The Smiling One
June 2016
Wollstonecraft and Lexi, back with each other again; I love these times.... I really do hope she thinks the same!
This must be our fourth, possibly fifth, catch up; this one was booked nearly a year in advance and I wasn't going to miss our time together for anything. June 2016 our winter catch up.
Lexi is one of those happy little ones who had a really tough start in life so seems to treasure every moment of company she can get. Even when she is out walking she prances along with what appears to be a huge smile on her face. This is fact and I am not being bias or imagining that grin of hers as the smiles she gets from the strangers we pass in the streets on our walks are beautiful and constant.
We have had many walks, many park adventures and some cosy nights in. She is a special little one to me and I can't believe our winter catch up is over and I have moved on... I think I will have to encourage her Mum to take another holiday and soon, so we can hang out again
Thanks Lexi for making my winter just a little more special - you really are a wonderful side kick!! xx

Lane Cove North; Who Would Have Known
April - May 2016
George and Sally my new little friends. And Lane Cove North....
I was fortunate to secure this house sit with George and Sally, their family were planning a trip abroad for six week and this was the first time that they had someone that they really did not know come and look after both their home and their little furry loved ones. So after an few interviews, a police check, some references and chats, George and Sally's family chose me to look after them.
It was a beautiful time of year, in a part of Sydney that I had never spent any time in and also a time to get to know George and Sally. Two wonderful, happy, vibrant and individual personalities. And as per normal, after a little shyness in the beginning we were soon great friends and we settled into our routine.
Again I was blessed by a wonderful home, a relaxing time and a chance to discover a part of Sydney that I had never lived in before. I loved every minute and could not believe that my six weeks disappeared in a blink and I was on the move again.
Thank you George and Sally for making me feel so at home and part of your family; I really do hope we get to do it again!
And now Lexi - you and I will reunite! Wollstonecraft here I come. x

Overnight Care; Two Girls (The Human Kind)
March 2016
Maybe I can now add Nanny as a in-home service I offer - overnight care of your children, your pets and your home.
During March I have been based at a regular clients home to be available to care for her two girls as she is now required to travel interstate regularly.
It has made me realise that, while I really do enjoy my over night stays with the girls, the things parents need to remember, coordinate and deliver from dawn to dusk is huge. And to be honest, I probably only did half of what the girls Mother would do automatically. As a lot of the time it's the things you need to remember to ask like "Have you got your gym bag" "Have you got your Opal card" "lunch?" "shoes". All of these questions get the "Yes" answer and in many instances at least one of those yes's should have been a "No". Then there is trying to find the right gate to pick them up from in the jungle of after school pick ups!
March you have shown me a different challenge; one which I enjoyed a whole lot and will welcome again.
And then in April I have a new family in Lane Cove North who have two beautiful tabby cats called George and Sally. I can't wait to move in and get to know these two better. xx

Cleo and Our Time In and Around Centennial Park
February - March 2016
I often get asked about the minimum number of nights I will house sit for and sometimes. yes I will come and stay for a weekend. However these short stays are for a special reason. My clients are now becoming my friends. Meaning we have history, memories and things are familiar so my answer, if I am available, will always be yes to these amazing families.
I think to myself; It is a short stay but not a hassle stay at all. But that's what building relationships and familiarity bring I suppose.
So my week with Cleo was not planned well in advance and only a short stay but for a wonderful woman and friend who was off to Bali for a week.
Living with Cleo and learning her ways, once again reminded me that dogs in many ways, really are another human in the house. Highlighted by the way their presence is felt and they seem to be just there, even if they aren't in the same room as I am.
Cleo and my time together was a quick week as I had work and a lot of it but we still got out, walked the streets and just hung out with each other.
Centennial Park really is a wonderful space in this city of ours... Thanks Cleo for allowing me to discover a lot more of it than I had ever seen before xx

My Unexpected Stay with Bonnie
January - February 2016
And she has moved, last time I looked after Bonnie she was a Mosman girl and now she gone a little inland to Chatswood.
We only had 12 days together and I accepted this house sit very last minute. Her Mum and Dad were about to organise their house sitter, thinking I would not have a break in my schedule for a smaller stay. However I did have a small pocket of days free, so I really do welcome these kind of bookings too as on occasion I have house sits cancel and I find myself wondering where I will stay now.
However, as I have been asked this question a number of times, when I do find myself homeless I do have a back up in place with an amazing family. So it seems I really do have the best of so many different worlds.
But back to Bonnie, she is a very unique, wonderful and calculating wee thing with a sturdy left hook! A left hook that I didn't see coming some days, and after chatting with her Mum about her speed and swiping abilities learnt she can't pick the timing of Bonnie some days too.
In saying that she is really a barrel of bonnie both literally and in personality.
Thank you for another relaxed and easy stay with Bonnie xx

January 2016; Done and Dusted with Shadow and Snowball
January 2016
As I sit to update this diary of my house sitting journey, my updates and reflection of some homes and pets sound very familiar as I am now returning to the same families over and over again, I am also very blessed by this familiarity. With the same homes and beautiful furry ones to look after, it is almost like a feeling of a little stability in my life that is always moving on; this is a little like moving back in short term.
And when it is for these crazy little cats; who would not want to move back in time and time again.
When I arrive I am sure they give me this "Oh it's just you" look and walk off without a backward glance. But always presenting themselves for cuddles when they are ready.

Christmas and New Years with Masky
December 2015 - January 2016
Sometimes you will hear a person that has never owned or loved dearly their own pet comment on the fact that "They are just an animal". But after all the amazing pets I have been so fortunate to look after, I know this to be absolute bollocks!
Every single animal is special, with its own quirks, personalities and in some instances, bad habits!
And my time in Zetland with Masky proved that, yet again. Masky is a beautiful soul. I can't even begin to write in words how beautiful his expressions that told me a thousand stories some days and nothing the next were or his cuddles or the way he draped his paws over my arm or even how he placed his head on the pillow beside me in mornings. And he also has the most amazing coloured eyes.
Reflecting on this description I have written, I smile and think to myself "Thank goodness I take photos because by that description Masky is sounding almost human". I also think that if I could package up his cuddles and snuggles and sell them I would be a very wealthy girl very quickly because everyone would want some, that is how lovely he is.
I was also blessed during my stay at Zetland for another reason; this house sit, the apartment was on the 14th floor and came with uninterrupted views from Brighton Le Sands, Sydney Airport, out to the Blue Mountains, finishing with the city and Sydney CBD. Breathtaking as I was able to close 2015 and see in the dawn of 2016 from way up high with all the glory of the NYE fireworks just off my balcony.
Another great highlight of this house sit was been able to return to Maroubra one evening. Dusty and Joe's Mum and Dad invited me to enjoy a BBQ with them and it was great to spend time with them in their relaxing home together.
The families I have the pleasure of meeting and getting to know after looking after their homes regularly is so rewarding and special to me.
Thank you Masky for sharing your home and my Christmas and New Year with me, I loved every minute and I hope you have me back! xx

Two Months and No Moving: Maroubra looking after Dusty and Joe
September - October - November 2015
And all I have to report is - I loved every minute of this house sit. Dusty and Joe are superb little characters who seemed not put out at all at the length of my stay. But knowing loved pets a bit better now they would have been ecstatic to see their real family walk back in the door after their holiday.
Dusty and Joe however have become very special to me, as you can see by the photos below and I hope they felt as relaxed and at home as I did sharing their lives for two months.
Two months was a booking that allowed me to stop for a bit and reflect on whether I wanted my own place again and the structure of having my own place and being able to get my positions out of storage and with me: my answer without a doubt no. I am learning so much, seeing so many places and are meeting the most wonderful families and their pets. Why would I stop?
But I am taking a sneaky holiday back to NZ after this stay to catch up with dear friends who say they never see me.... Nor have any idea at any time where in Sydney I may be.
And to Dusty and Joe’s Mum and Dad…. Thank you for the most beautiful time with your amazing little ones and in your stunning homely home! I loved it xx
Zetland my next stop over and then back to the little piece of paradise in Killara that I can nearly call home too (nearly) x

Lexi; I really do love Lexi
September 2015
I have already booked my next stay with Lexi; June 2016. And yes I am very excited.
Not much to report other than I love this little lady and coming home to her excitement is such a bonus of this life I lead.
Blessed to have met her Mum in my yoga class and doubled blessed by her introduction of Lexi in my life.
Now after my three weeks in Wollstonecraft, a two month care position of tow wonderful little ones called Joe and Dusty. Another two of my regulars; who would have ever thought my life would be blessed by all these stunning loved ones!

When Shifting to a House Sit Feels Like I Am Coming Home
August 2015
August in Forestville and the familiar company of Cesar and Bailey. And another smooth and easy going stay, just as per last time, I have nothing new to report other than yet again, it was a pleasure to be in these two amazing little creatures company.
Who would have thought this journey of mine would just keep getting easier, with all the homes I continue to return to becoming more and more a welcoming and familiar stay every time.
This, too is the rest of my year; familiar families with their stunning loved ones.
Wollstonecraft next stop, hanging with Lexi and then I head off to two months back in Maroubra with Joe and Dusty. What a stunning welcome to Summer that will be!! xx

Snowball and Shadow; My Regulars
June - July 2015
Such a big part of life these little ones. My regulars and I have come to love them very very much. Big personalities and a pleasure to be with.
And with early 2015 having some crazy busy months with personal commitments that have not allowed me to settle into extended house I have had the flexibility to look after Snowball and Shadow for shorter periods.
With familiarity brings ease and this is what we are together; familiar and its easy.

Bonnie and That Purr of Hers
June 2015
Not only did I get to see Bonnie's Dad and Mum marry each other and celebrate the night with them in one of the most stunning buildings in Sydney, The Queen Victoria Building, I then meet their wee little lady. And Bonnie was her name. And to me she was just the perfect image of bonny.
This was my second time house sitting in Mosman but Bonnie's home took me a whole lot closer to the water’s edge. There is something about the Sydney harbour and my want to be very close to it, even if I can't see it.
During my stay I arrange with friends to see the VIVID experience that Sydney showcases so decided to catch the ferry across to Circular Quay. This ferry ride across the harbour as equally stunning, if not more so to me.
But back to the reason of my stay; the cute, fluffy, purring wee thing that was introduced to me as Bonnie.
During our 10 days together I was constantly suffering from cuteness overload as her purr is like nothing I have heard before, its loud, unique and often. Along with her little, well actually sometimes not so little or subtle paw patting of my arm, that if I chose to purposely ignore became a lot more persistent, indicating that it was scratch time was just so Bonnie.
Sum up my stay; Smitten with Bonnie! But that too could be influenced by my growing friendship and admiration of how humble and am grounding her Dad and Mum are.
I hope the honeymoon was stunning because my time with your little lady was equally so! xx

I Didn't Plan for Lewisham But It worked
April - May 2015
For some reason April and May have been two months that I have not had some sizeable or planned house sits until the last minute, which when I have gaps in my calendar I welcome! No matter how short the notice; hence how I found myself in Lewisham.
I do think that due to having a weekend wedding in the Blue Mountains that I was Maid of Honour and my work three day conference falling on consecutive weekends did limit my freedom to commit to some house sits during this time. But I can't, and won't more to the point, say yes to looking after your home and pets and then take off for a weekend. Defeats the purpose of our agreement.
But as it seems, if we just take a big breath in and exhale things generally have a way of working themselves out as at quite the last minute I found myself spending the end of April and beginning of May in Lewisham looking after a very quiet and reserved little lady called Rosie. And sadly we had some bad weather in Sydney, really bad weather actually at the start of our time together as this bad weather, along with a stranger in the house looking after her, we really did start our time together on the wrong foot and she was a little shy for longer than it normally takes for me to form a friendship.
I was starting to think that this could possibly have been the first house sit were I didn't bond with the little one in my care. But I am happy to report that this was not the case. Towards the end of my stay Rosie was inside waiting for me at the end of the day with a number of stories to tell me!
And Lewisham, while on the other side of town for me was a pretty relaxed little part of Sydney to be in!
I would like to say to Rosie that should I get invited back to look after your again I really do intend to get off to a better start and make sure we pick up where we left off this time!

Killara And The Home That I Know So Well
April 2015
Easter this year was in Killara and back to the very familiar home of Shadow and Snowball. These amazing little ones seem to make me feel a little closer to them each time I go back and look after them, their personalities are never ending and delightful.
My stay in Killara was a little different this time as I had the daughter of the home owner stay in my care. This is not something that I do very often as there is a huge responsibility and my work during the day Monday to Friday does not have the flexibility at that particular time to allow me to. But on this holiday for reasons out of the families control one of the daughters could not travel abroad so she stayed at home with me as her carer. We do also know each other rather well these days and with being 12 years old, nearly thirteen I am reminded often, she was an absolute pleasure to look after.
We ventured out and did a few things which was lovely to spend some one on one time with her, getting to know her just a little better. Cinderella the newly released movie at the IMAX in Darling Harbour was one of our days. Then a trip back into the city another day to visit Dymocks and spend some Christmas vouchers on books. We were even able to sneak in Sushi Train for dinner one night and a couple of movies at home too.
It was nice to have the company of another person or little person I should say, for this time but in writing that, I do know her family really did miss her not being on holiday with them.
Now it's to Lewisham for an unexpected house sit for two weeks before my hectic May begins!

A Very Short Stay in Brookvale
March 2015
I met Jack for the first time a few days before his family went away on holiday so when I arrived after work on Monday it seemed that I was still familiar to him and he appeared to adapt so very quickly to having me, a new person in his home.
We only had four days together but they were enough to get to know each other a lot better, chill in the evenings and go on some walks in the mornings and evenings, even when his walking harness is on upside down for one of these walks! I have no idea how I managed to get him in to it incorrectly but please note; I did get it right every walk after that one. I just hope it was not too uncomfortable for him.
Jack was everything I expected and more, he was such an easy, happy and bubbly personality to look after and my four days with him were gone in a flash!
Thank you Veronica for the introduction to your family and the opportunity to care for Jack!!
Now for a long weekend away at Hawks Nest, near Tea Gardens NSW for a close friends hen's weekend before her wedding in May. I have never been to this part of NSW so are looking forward to getting out of the city and seeing somewhere new.

Ten Days In Maroubra - Ending My Summer Just Perfectly
March 2015
Dusty and Joe have me coming back to Maroubra again and do I mind; NOT AT ALL! I really do treasure my time with these two in their very comfortable home.
But for some reason I cannot master their automatic feeder and I am sure it is very simple to use but for some reason I have failed every time I have tried to reset and refill. It is so frustrating and embarrassing as it is always in bits when Dusty and Joe's parents arrive home. I am normally pretty good with appliances and working out how to operate them. This one though, not a chance..... but I am determined to master it; I will not be beaten by a cat feeder!
I got some really great cuddles and had a couple of interesting conversations with Dusty and Joe. They too seem to remember me and are quite relaxed from the moment I stepped through their doors. It is a great feeling to walk into a house sit and feel that the loved ones in my care are not at all put out by the arrival of my suitcases and I!
And I didn’t feel sad saying good bye this time because if all goes to plan the three of us will be hanging out again later in 2015. Something to look forward to towards the end of 2015 and feeling very happy to know I will be back.
During my stay this time I was also blessed with some stunning Sydney sunsets, I would never tire of these views xx

Sebby And Our Weekends In Double Bay
February - March 2015
Sebby and I have had a couple of weekends together and I am sure I got the look of "oh just you" from Sebby when I first walked in the door, turning her back on me and returning to the couch.
That feeling of familiarity is making house sitting so easy and rewarding.
There is nothing new to report about Sebby and I. She as always charming, easy and a gorgeous little lady who sit loved her time on the couch for cuddles.
And to spend a couple of weekends in Double Bay to end my summer; Perfect! xx

Cammeray; My Other Home Away From Home!
January - February 2015
I haven't posted yet about this house sit because to me it was easy, perfect, fun and like being at home.... and that sounds way to good to be true.
But I decided that I need to post just that, thank you Trish and Phil for the opportunity to look after your boys again, I loved every single minute of my time in your home.
And find such a humbling vibe when each time I stay the gap between Cleo, Blackjack and I gets smaller and smaller.
Thank you for the opportunity to stay in a stunning home with a healthy and uplifting symmetry about it and one that gives me the opportunity to get to know your boys better!!
Reflecting I cannot believe that opportunity you both give every time I stay with your family!!
Thank you, hugs and love from me - it means more than I can explain in words! T. xx

A Short Stop Over In Northbridge With No Pets This Time
January 2015
I was so blessed with a house sit in one amazing home on the water in Long Bay, NSW before my four week stop over in Cammeray, with my regulars Blackjack and Cleo.
To be able to spend even a bit of my summer in this beautiful part of the world makes me realise how very lucky I am.
So just sharing a couple of photos of my day at the home owners boat shed, just chilling... Thank you so much xx
(Please note that due to this being a repeat client and a Director for the Company where I work, I had obtained approval to share their facilities with my friends. I would never use or have friends over without prior approval from the home owner)

Camperdown and my new friend Byron
December 2014
My Christmas in Camperdown with Byron and what a pleasure he was to care for.
I am sure he was a little baffled at first but we soon were chilling in front of the TV together. A wonderful little man who talked, loved helping me with a number of things, including wrapping my Christmas presents.
I was only with Byron for a short stay and this stay just disappeared. I felt I had just unpacked my bags and then it was time to pack up, I was leaving again.
Camperdown I found to be a wonderful part of Sydney too, I walked a number of times around the Glebe Basin, I have always loved that walk. And even found myself walking into the city... So impressed with this little part of Sydney that if I was to settle in a place of my own this would be perfect.
Thank you for my opportunity to discover this jewel and my time with Byron, it was a great place to spend Christmas in the city.
Next stop, New Years and January 2015 back with my regulars - Snowball and Shadow.

Since June 2012 a My First Month of No Pet Sitting
November 2014
November has been my month; a month that I have stayed over at friends and have been away for weekends without the responsibility of your loved ones.
It almost seems a little foreign, not to be caring for at least one furry little animal.
I have however been very fortunate; I have squeezed in a friends birthday weekend away in the Gold Coast and staying at The Hilton I might add too. Another weekend with loved ones, just kicking back, doing the BBQ thing. A drive up to the Blue Mountains and a whole lot of chilling.
So I am now ready for December to kick in, to pack my bags and start looking after my little friends again. Mid December finds my Calender fully booked until 14 February 2015.
People often ask me "Tania when you don't have house sits where do you live?" My answer to this is, I am one truly lucky lady as I have a couple of friends who are in positions to have me stay over at their homes (and for some reason seem to like my company... or so they tell me). I could not do this journey without these friends, so I constantly remind myself that "Tania-Marie this is not necessarily your journey alone; not possible - you do, at some stages need the support of of others!"
As we all do in life. Allowing that help is sometimes a whole other kettle of fish that we don't even want to have to consider, let alone contemplate cooking! I am learn to let others help, slowly!
But here's a couple of November snaps to share with you all, T. xx

Botany: Kharmun and Pharoh
October 2014
Stunning little non humans!! Impeccably behaved and a pleasure to be around. Some more of my regulars... to whom I have nothing more to add than; I am so pleased to have met them both. Crazy cool furry ones these two! xx
My extra time with Lexi and Wollstonecraft!
October 2014
All I can say is that; one of the amazing joys I get from this journey of mine, the one that we call House Sitting, is that I get to be around the ones I treasure, so many more times than once. And this little lady called Lexi is one of the stunning introductions I have had through house sitting.... I truly love this little lady!!
Killara - Northbridge - Killara: the short stays and a holiday
September - October 2014
My time of a little bit of here, then there and back again. Some months I find that I could move four or five times but I do have my packing and shifting orgainsed in such a way that it is not a big deal. This makes me pause and I reflect on when I shifted out of my apartment to start house sitting: it took four men, two trucks and 8 hours to move to my storage unit. That was just me, no partner or children. I travel a lot lighter these days.
Killara gives me precious time again with my dear little ones Shadow and Snowball. I do not even think they give my suitcases and presence a second thought these, it is probably more of a shrug and a nod as they go about their days.
Here one week, gone for another and back again, yes I think they are very use to me now.
Northbridge though found me looking after India, what a fabulous name for a old but stunningly gentle dog. She was a little slow, laboured with her breathing and not keen on her walks but I was told she must have them, much to her dismay I am sure. I think she thought she could pull the wool over my eyes and dig her toes in when the lead came out but I was on to her. Such a beautiful animal to care for.
My time with India short too but hopefully I will be back with her at Christmas time and into the New Year.
So Killara and then it's holiday time, my sister and I are heading up to Port Stephens for week of early Summer sun and fun!
I think I am getting a little excited. xx

Sebby and Seven . five weeks in Double Bay
July - August - September 2014
Where do I start, why not at the end? I had been looking forward to my seven weeks with Sebby and now it had gone. I was really sad to leave this little lady and as I closed the door and left the apartment building for the last time I had a little lump in my chest and had to tell myself "Tania Marie you knew this would have to end one day, it is not your pet!" Nothing like a few stern words to oneself to bring reality back.
Sebby's Dad and Mum were in Europe to celebrate their wedding with family and then honeymoon in Italy... of course I was a little jealous to be the one left at home but when a house sit is with such a calm, easy going and well behaved cat as Sebby, it is like a little holiday all of our own.
And Double Bay NSW.......... come on: what a place to find oneself.
This was my second time with Sebby so we just seem to slip right back into our routine. One that involves me feeding Sebby, Sebby trying to convince me with her pleading eyes that I never ever gave her enough food and that she really did need more. Fell for this look only a few times I might add!
So after a wonderful time in Double Bay I have moved on and now with only four months left in 2014, am now thinking about my 2015 days and where this coming year will find me travelling.
Welcome home Mr and Mrs Sebby, I am very much looking forward to catching up, seeing some stunning wedding photos and listen to you both tell me about your time away! Hugs x

Okay July where did you go!
July 2014
We are now, as today is the 2nd August 2014, into the second month of the second half of 2014 and if it wasn't for this diary of my life house sitting I do not think I could recall where my year has gone. I feel like yelling out some days "World slow down!"
At the end of June I finished in Northbridge looking after Billy and moved back up to Killara to look after Shadow and Snowball. They have a new home so are still discovering the new noises, smells and neighbouring animals. It is amazing how after looking after these two on a number of occasions how familiar I was with their old home, lights, ovens, washing machines and rubbish days to name a few, it makes it easy when I already know the routine.
Then I reflex on how lucky many of my house sits now are familiar, with pets and families that now are part of my life, it makes moving regularly a whole lot easier.
When I started out on this journey it never even entered my mine that I would make the amazing friends I have. It makes me realise how very blessed I am.
Double Bay my next stop over: a seven week adventure too.

Northbridge and a little variation to the norm
June 2014
Three weeks in Northbridge: a different kind of house sit for me.
There was Billy, a wonderful dog, which is normal in my house sitting world but the difference with this house sit was home owners children were also staying on in the house with me.
So included in this house sit were dinners, some shopping and school drops along with my walks with Billy. And with these added additions my time in Northbridge sped by, almost unseen.
Then my move out day was upon me: I was sad to pack up and leave this home, with its amazing family, stunning views and handy location.
During this house sit, I also realised how nice it was to go home to young people, something that is very foreign as I do not have children of my own.
I did enjoy getting to know this family.
Thank you for sharing your home with me and making my stay one I will remember for a long time! x
Now back to Snowball and Shadow, in their new home one suburb over: Killara

A weekend stop over in Cammeray
May 2014
A weekend stop over with Blackjack and Cleo… Each time we hang together, we become a little closer and their real personalities are shining through. But as with every relationship in life, our foundations to trust take time!
I do also think that they now know I am only a temporary interruption to their lives and that things will be back to normal in the not too distance future.
Until next time Blackjack and Cleo, and as always you were wonderful company! xx

Maroubra: a First
May 2014
This was the first time I have ever spent time
in Maroubra and I could not think of any better furry company to share my time here, than the ones in
my care: Joe and Dusty.
My time with these little ones was short and it felt like it was over before it had even started. We seemed to get on well, with the normal little bit of hesitance at the start, and for our week and half together, we were a team.
I spent a lot of my spare days discovering the coast line of Maroubra, it really is a little hidden gem so I will back in summer to have my first swim on this beach of yours.
Joe a quiet gentleman and Dusty a typical girl, one who liked to be around and certainly like to eat, were very easy going and a pleasure to look after.
I did however successfully stuff up the automatic feeder so Joe and Dusty did have to rely on my timing for their biscuit, not too much of a disruption to their routine: I hope.
To Joe and Dusty thank you for making my time in Maroubra a blessing. xx
Now for some free days and a weekend in Cammeray, before I take myself off to Northbridge.

A week back with Snowball and Shadow
April 2014
A week back in East Killara... it's like coming home!
Blessed to have the consistent house sitting commitments with this family, I treasure my time with these little ladies and they are becoming quiet familiar with me know too. We just chill and hang out together, have some cuddles and share some nights in.
As always a fabulous little getaway! Thank you Snowball and Shadow: as always, our time together irreplaceable!

Wollstonecraft: so very close to work
March 14
Blessed I was by this little house sit. Not only was Lexi a breeze, I got out walking and discovered some amazing parts of Wollstonecraft. I was also kind of, but with pleasure, forced to walk twice a day by this little lady, reminding me how beneficial walking (or just getting out and doing something is so healthy in our every day lives).
Lexi is one amazing little lady, and it was a pleasure to look after her.
And the locality to work was fantastic, a five minute walk each day... Oh I have been blessed by the ease of Lexi and the handy location to my place of work with this house sit.
Thank you! It was amazing.... and Wollstonecraft a very handy and local location!
Now back to East Killara for a little stay over: then the rest of April.... I will call Cammeray home. x

Now back to East Killara for a little stay over: then the rest of April.... I will call Cammeray home. x
March with friends
March 2014
So my March was a time of just hanging with friends, and I must say some fantastic "hanging" was done. I was able to disappear up to the Central Coast for a weekend away, just me chilling and relaxing with friends. And with no real need to be any where. Then a fantastic weekend in the city with a great friend, doing the city thing, something I have not done in a real long time and I loved every minute of it.
So for me, my March was my month... my month of not a lot of responsibility: one of just chill.
Blessed by the break but now back into the swing of looking after others loved ones..... and Wollstonecraft, here I come!

Forestville and my discovery of it
February 2013
2014 where are you going: it was only yesterday I was celebrating New Year in Double Bay, finding out about Cammeray, then discovering Forestville: now I find myself in March, with two months of you gone, three house sits down and almost contemplating my 2015 schedule. I would never have thought my journey of house sitting to be so easy and one, that leaves me feeling so blessed and humbled by the families and pets I have met.
So Forestville you ask, what a relaxed and easy suburb. The streets welcoming, the feel easy and the home amazing.
Bailey and Ceasar, individual, strong and characters but amazing little furry ones that entertained me to no end. I was so lucky to enjoy my time with these two and discover the hidden wonders that Forestville has to offer.
Thank you to Bailey and Ceasar for this time and for my opportunity to discover another piece of Sydney!

Cammeray and being so close to work
January - February 2014
My time in Cammeray with Blackjack and Cleo... fantastic!
I was able to walk to work every day, and enjoy the closeness of just being there and not having to drive, not having to worry about traffic, about parking and wasted time sitting in my car: something I think we all struggle with.
But the home I was house sitting was refreshing, light, colourful and welcoming and I did feel relaxed and at home. So to the family I say thank you for this time to just "be" and live, with all my necessities close at hand.
My journey in this house sitting way of life is giving me the opportunity to meet and be part of some wonderful family’s lives so for this introduction I say “Thank you journey I am one very lucky lady”
And the bonus is my yoga classes start again tomorrow…….. oh how I have missed your classes: more than you will ever know!
I was a little sad to end my stay in Cammeray and my time with Blackjack and Cleo. But thank you for my time in your home: amazing and I am inspired to start my painting journey again by all the art on your walls!

East Killara... a place so familiar now: it feels like I am coming home!
January 2014
These little ladies have become a really important part of my life, not only because their family are so amazingly support of me and my house sitting journey but because they are stunning pets.
I know their routine and know their habits and we are not strangers any more.
It is almost like when I arrive, they look at me and my suitcases rolling down the driveway and think to themselves: she's back!
I am so blessed by this family, their time and the support.

My Christmas 2013
December 2013 / January 2014
This year I was fortunate enough to be looking after one amazing little lady called Sebby. She was easy, relaxed and my kind of girl. What a breeze and
special time we had together.
When you are house sitting time flies ever so quickly, so when I moved in at the end of December I thought a time to cherish with so much opportunity to just chill. But then my time was over and I was shifting again.
I did however do some firsts:
So all in all, my time with Sebby, in Double Baby without doubt, a stunningly great time and what a wonderful little lady to share it with.
Thank you Sebby, we did have fun..... and I will be back! x
Now East Killara I am with you again.

I did however do some firsts:
- My first time to walk to the harbour and see the firework spectacular that Sydney is known for: I loved it!
- My very first Christmas with my sister who is living in Paddington, so close by and a family member to share my day with.
- Discovering Murray Rose Pool, in love with this little gem!
- And my first time sailing on a yacht on Sydney's harbour, another stunning day, leaving Rushcutters Bay (so handy I walked home after a superb day on the water).
So all in all, my time with Sebby, in Double Baby without doubt, a stunningly great time and what a wonderful little lady to share it with.

My Weekend Stop Over in Naremburn
November 2013
My weekend stop over in Naremburn... but I will be back for longer next time.
Trish, my wonderful yoga instructor from Trish Flynn Yoga, was off for a weekend of checking out venues for up and coming yoga retreats (of at least one I really want to attend) so I was there to look after Blackie and Cleo.
Stunning boys that if you didn't know you were looking after cats you would not, other than feeding times, even know they were around. That's how polite and quiet these boys were.
So in February I will be back but spending a little longer with these two!
Roll on February I say xx

Jannali and My Daily Journey to Work in Crows Nest
November 2013
My time in the Shire (or very close to the Shire) went so quickly, and my three week stint on public transport not too hard to digest.
Lucy and Emmy were in my care, and other than loosing Emmy (the cat for a day and a little bit of intense panic) our time together easy, uneventful and homely.
I did have to factor in the one hour and forty minute train ride to and from work each day, but what I did not think about was that this time each day was mine. No interruptions, do phone calls and no driving so I started reading again: so much so that I finished my overdue book club book, purchased, started and finished the current one............ and now on to a book I have been meaning to start for so long.
It's the small things and the hidden blessings that this train journey allowed me to experience. So thank you Jannali I really did enjoy our time together!
And by the end of my stay learnt to pronounce Jannali correctly too! x

My In Between in Crows Nest
October 2013
Mid way through November I found myself without a home to look after so was blessed with a girl friend suggested I stay with her for a bit. And what a bit it was: refreshing, funny, entertaining and very welcoming. But a week into my stay I got a call from a referral: Minny and Marlin needed looking after so my bags got packed and I moved on.
I was asked when I went to meet with Minny and Marlin's family how I was with big dogs and thank goodness I was okay and quite calm, because they were stunningly big dogs.
Firstly there was Minny, a female Mastiff, Dane and Blood Hound cross and then Marlin, a 2 year old male Mastiff, Dane and Rottweiler cross: two heart felt animals and very friendly to go with it.
It is amazing the different breeds of animals, the characteristics of these breeds and families I am finding myself meeting. I am also blessed by the opportunity to look after some stunning pets.
But alas it was only for a week, one unplanned week and now I move on for my three weeks in Jannali.

The longest house sit so far, Bella and I
August, September and a bit of October 2013
Seven weeks in Hunters Hill, seemed like a very long time and I was looking forward to settling in for those weeks, unpacking and not living totally out of a suitcase. It was a very exciting prospect.
But time does go so quickly, and my seven weeks is done and dusted and I am now looking forward to my next house sitting adventure in a few weeks time.
What a stunning suburb Hunters Hill is: quiet, friendly and very calming.
I was even able to get in the garden and mow the lawns. I haven't started a lawn mower in such a long time I was almost afraid I would pull my arm off. But after a couple of attempts I was fine and my lawn mowing adventure started. I found it, other than the sound of the lawn mower itself, quiet relaxing process: strange I know but that's me.
Winter also, ended for me during this house sit and the wisteria blossomed on the balcony during my stay. I have never been in a home with such a stunning balcony that when the wisteria was at is fullest bloom had the most amazing scent and positive impact on my day... simply stunning.
Bella was a breeze, just her and I hanging out. Such a beautiful little lady that loved to talk her head off at the end of my working day. Her company was a blessing and she was very easy to get along with. I just hope she did not miss her Mum and Dad too much!
Well now for a few weeks of friend time and then I am down to South for three weeks to welcome in Summer. I am really looking forward to my time at the beach in Cronulla and get out and discovering the Shire.

My weekend in Jannali
August 2013
I was lucky enough to spend my weekend in Jannali, a quiet and wonderful suburb in the Shire (Shire - correct me if I am wrong in saying this)
My sister, who has just relocated here from NZ, and I spent the weekend here, our Saturday started with breakfast in Cronulla, wonderful, fresh air and hot. Then we ventured off on the train journey to ANZ Stadium for the first Bledisloe Cup game, and what a fantastic win it was for our All Blacks, so a great Saturday.
But we also had the opportunity to meet Lucy, the dog and Emmy, the cat and hang with them for the weekend. A really short house sit but one that will become three weeks in the Shire for me in November, so looking forward to starting my summer off here!
Next stop Hunters Hill for seven weeks and that nearly (only nearly) finishes my 2013....

Botany, my time with Kharmun and Pharoh
July - August 2013
Botany, and my time with these two wonderful cats, Kharmun and Pharoh. Both entertaining characters for sure, and who were simply a pleasure to look after.
House sitting has really shown me how time goes by ever so quickly, I was in Botany for three and a half weeks, and it felt like I had only just shifted in, then I was shifting out again. Winter too I suppose does not give one the hours to get out and discover a place like summer does but I have enjoyed my time here.
And these two furry creature's sure hold a place in my heart. Wonderful and easy to be around, they were!
So on from Botany to my weekend in Jannali....

Snowball, Shadow and I: the recurring story
July 2013
I have found myself in the company of Snowball and Shadow quite often since the beginning of my house sitting journey: it is kind of like coming home when I move back in with these two stunning girls.
Unique and individual, vibrant and lively.... and so cute to go with it.
I think they think to themselves as they see my suitcases and I coming down their driveway "You... again so soon, this means only one thing, our human family are going away again!"
But then we just get on with with hanging together one more time.
What I did have the pleasure of doing this time when I was here was a bush walk called Two Creeks Track, it was a fantastic afternoon out and some wonderful pictures were taken.

Evo and Buxton: the characters from Mosman
June 2013
My four weeks in Mosman, started and finished in almost a flash: time and how fast it flies sometimes, disconcerting.
But even though it did pass ever so quickly I was still able to get to know and spend a great amount of time with Evo and Buxton. Two very distinct and individual characters, who let me know when they need a cuddle and kept themselves entertained otherwise.
Mosman is a lovely suburb also, but now that it is winter and I am playing Netball on Saturday's was not able to get out on foot and discover as much of the beautiful streets as I had hoped. So maybe one day soon in the summer months I will find myself staying in this beautiful part of Sydney again.
Welcome home to Evo and Buxton's Mother, I hope your holiday was wonderful and hello East Killara I am back with you again.

My short, but enjoyable stay in Lane Cove
May 2013
Lane Cove was my last house sit, and it was just Pancha and I.
Our stay together was only for a week but it was a good week, maybe not as bubbly and exciting for Pancha as she normally has Lucas, the little boy of the house to watch out for.
But she was still excited to see me at the end of each day and we still got a walk in each night. A good thing for us both to get out and about at the end of each day.
Mosman: I will be with you shortly!
My five week stay in Greenwich
April - May 2013
Cleo, Milo and Maggie were my friends for my stay in Greenwich and what a delightful time I had. And five weeks was enough time for a wonderful total unpack. To be, if only for a short time, able to look at my clothes hanging in front of me in a closet as I decide what to wear in the mornings.
My time was mainly spent with Milo and Maggie and we had fun out walking and discovering the area.
I had not spent time in Greenwich before and after my time in this suburb, feel very lucky for my stay. I discovered so many walking tracks and bush walks that you would never expect to find on our door step, in this city harbour of ours. The views are just stunning and the quietness divine.
One of the highlights from my stay was catching the ferry over to Circular Quay then walking home over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, then meandering around the streets and coastal walks of the inner harbour back to my house sit. These were really beautiful and peaceful days.
So much so that I made a girlfriend do it with me for a second time. This time though, we did stop off at Commodore Hotel, McMahons Point, for a bite of lunch and a NZ Sauvignon Blanc.
Well worth the effort that walk, even if you were to start at Circular Quay and catch the ferry to Greenwich and do the walk in reverse: Greenwich to Circular Quay via the Harbour Bridge. A stunning afternoon excursion seeing so much of the unseen Sydney Harbour Coastline.

A stop over for 5 weeks on the North Side of the bridge
April 2013
I have now unpacked again, was such a wonderful feeling this morning getting ready for work and having drawers and a built in to select my clothes from.
Sometimes the small things are the best things: don't you think?
Down by the water and just chilling close by to work, ahhhhh a nice feeling.
With Cleo and Milo keeping me company.

East Killara is my port of call at the moment
March 2013
Back looking after Snowball and Shadow, I seem to be very familiar with their routine now days after a number of different house sits, just the three of us.

2013 you seem to be shaping up pretty fine, and my diary is filling up nicely, so make sure you come to me with any bookings so I can secure a spot in my 2013 calendar.

A weekend in French's Forest, right next door to Buster!
February 2013
I have just had a wonder weekend in French's Forest. Looking after two dogs, Moby and Nemo and two fluffy ones, Boots and Tigger. And what a relaxing weekend it was!
Long Reef beach was the call on Saturday, chilling, swimming and reading a real paper bound book!
Then a quiet dinner in and movie, it was lovely.
And what topped this weekend off, was it was right next door to Buster, the little fluffy man I looked after for six weeks last year, and his Mum, Cecile.
A wonderful woman who restores my faith of belief in humankind. She has believed in me, recommend me and supported my house sitting adventures, so thank you Cecile I really appreciate your support! Without you my journey would be so much harder! xx

I find myself back in East Killara, this northern part of Sydney is becoming quite familiar to me know and while I love it here are so looking forward to other adventures in other parts of this wonderful city, Sydney, that we all call home.

Australia Day Weekend - Mona Vale
January 2013
A long weekend in Mona Vale was the next place of call, the beach and two wonderful but shy little cats who periodically popped in for a feed.
I do think that Fifi missed her Mum and Dad just a little, she spent a lot of her Saturday afternoon hanging by the gate, waiting. Thinking who is this stranger in my home.
I did find her snuggled up on the pillow of the bed I had been sleeping in when I did my final check before departing this morning, so I must not have been too scary for her.
The weather I must say did put a damper on my long weekend of books and beach, as the rain came and stayed.

Back looking after Shadow and Snowball
January 2013
And it kinda feels like coming home!
January is a wonderful month for this year, I am with Shadow and Snowball for most of it and I have become quite partial to these two little ladies and their individual idiosyncrasies they make them individuals.
I also saw opera, Semele Walk, for the first time last night, what a fashion spectacular, show casing the most fantastic gowns.
And have my nieces coming to staying from NZ for five days!
Oh yes January Twenty Thirteen you are living up to my expectations: nicely!

My time with this little man is up
December 2012
Roe and I have hang out together for the last three weeks, but it has come to the end for this little stay. Time is comes and goes so quickly, I cannot believe his Mum is flying home today and I am moving on to my next house sit.
But I do think that this little man will be so excited when his Mum walks back in the door this evening, and I too are looking forward to hearing all about the holiday adventures too.
On to a home now where I have two little ones to look after.
"A massive thank you to Tania Marie Rickard for looking after my cat and place while I was away. She was so awesome! If anyone needs a great house sitter, let me know and I'll put you in touch. My cat was so well looked after, my garden hasn't looked so healthy ever, and my unit was the cleanest it's ever been!" - Roni, Dulwich Hill, NSW, 30th December 2013

Inner West is next on the 2012 calender
December 2012
Looking forward to settling down for the month of December, the Inner West is the last stop before I start my 2013 adventures.
After a fantastic five day break in the Gold Coast, returning a little tanned and relaxed, I now have key's in hand and are shifting in next week, looking forward to chilling with a fluffy ginger man who goes by the name of Roe.

Back with Bella and Kimba
November 2012
Back with Bella and Kimba, but Bella is sick so picking her up from the vet tomorrow after work to spend a weekend in.
Pet's they are a'knowing.... as I do not know Bella and Kimba especially well, but Kimba is different tonight. Not as bouncy, not as bubbly: Mum and Dad are away, a stranger in the house (being me) and Bella is sick.
The love of a pet.... worthwhile I say!
Kimba so has that look that I aren't the one she really wants to see, but I still cuddle and talk to her.
How can I not she is so very cute!

Back in Ultimo being Auntie to the cutest little girl
October - mid November 2012
Spending a bit of time city side, hanging with loved ones, and playing with Chloe. The joy of a child is so soothing, infectious almost.
With this city living has come the opportunity to go and see some independent theatre, a love of mine. Tarantula at King Street Theatre in Newtown, and just down the road at The New Theatre, The Knowledge. Both fantastic pieces that I highly recommend.
The Knowledge - at The New Theatre

Heading back out for another house sit mid November, so my city adventure is only to be shorted lived!

I have the keys to my new house sit!!
September - October 2012
I am going back to East Killara, this house sitting does not allow for boredom now does it!!
The world is always a'changing!
So I am dragging the cases out, packing up this week, putting the shoes away and moving again...
But Shadow and Snowball are the next on my agenda, and looking forward to seeing them again!

Just hanging Buster and I
August - September 2012
It has been wonderful to unpack, to have my shoes all lined up in a built-in.
And to hang with Buster, it must be such a shock in some ways in a pets life, to not only miss their owners, but to have this stranger living with them in their homes, their territory. The new smells, the new routine, along with a sense of loss (while we know this is only short term... I am sure Buster is thinking "when is my Mum coming home?") thrown in on the side.
So while I am adjusting, I am well aware that your pets will be adjusting too to this, while it be short term, new life of theirs.
But all in all, I do think Buster and I are getting along fine... the odd little stand off is par for any course when it comes to pets, and the furry one does always seem to succeed in winning.

My five week stint in French's Forest, and my unpacking elation
August - September 2012
It is surprising how easy I have slipped in to this life style of house sitting, but last week I was here, there and everywhere. I am sure I covered ever corner of Sydney twice..... I hate to think what my e-tag account has sky rocketed too.
But road toll relief is here, I have found myself looking after Buster in French's Forest. Buster/s Mum is going overseas for the first time in her life and taking in the world, literally, for six weeks. With a girlfriend in tow, she is doing something she thought she would never do, and that is to travel overseas and see the world. I am so inspired by what she is doing, her go get it attitude and that she chose me to look after Buster while she lives this holiday of a lifetime (I think I secretly hope this too will be me one day).
This opportunity also gives me the chance, as I am here for 5 weeks, to unpack, hang up and stack up my jewellery, my clothes and my shoes.
No more suitcases for me for five weeks.... and oh what a fantastic feeling it was for once in my life, to put my clothes and shoes away.
So from me, Buster and French's Forest, see you soon, as we are sharing each others company for a while.

In Gladesville at the moment
July - August 2012
And sharing Widdy's home with her, she is the most easy going cat, just cruising along and gently indicating to me by the slightest of meow's when it is time to be let out. Her meow is just there, without been intrusive in anyway.
She knows her food though, and does not seem to want to have a bar of anything that is not up to her taste buds. Something I need to ask her Mum when she gets home, is it just me or is she always like this (either way it is her home and she has her own mind, I am just intrigued) as I do not want to be under feeding Widdy but I also do not want to be a pushover when her Mum is not here to tell me what is really the way and how it works when it comes to dinner time.
Trying for a photo, Widdy it seems is a little camera shy, never fear I shall get a good shot of the cutie with whom I am sharing living space with at the moment.

Bella & Kimba.. two of the cutest!
July 2012
Just thought I would share these two little bundles of fun that I looked after last week.
Bella, who's coat is brown and dances in circles as soon as she sees you. Then there is Kimba who is just a cutie, where together a breeze to look after.
And it is always nice to be welcomed home with such enthusiasm!!... not that I was lulled into any false sense of self worth thinking it was my face they were happy to see, as I am sure it was the knowing that food was about to be delivered that caused the leaps of joy!
I just think they are the cutest little things though!!
This weekend I am on the move again: it is house sitting in Gladesville for me for the next three weeks.

Reference provided - Thursday, 27 June 2012 for House Sitting in Wahroonga, NSW
This was the third year that we have travelled back to Europe and the third time we have used the house sitters website.
We received a response from Tania after having to re-advertise due to the previous sitter having dropped out at short notice. Though Tania had very little experience, it was clear that after meeting her we felt very comfortable and we asked her to house sit for us for three weeks from 25th May to 17th June 2012. We have a four bedroom house in Wahroonga along with two Siamese cats.
While we were away Tania kept us updated and reassured that all was okay at home. We felt relaxed and did not worry about our home or our cats.
We returned after a 21 hour flight very tired, to find an immaculate home. Everything including the bedding, towels etc had been washed, the house was spotless. The cats were happy and in good health.
I am an Inspector with the Animal Welfare League NSW and as such taking care of animals is very important to me, particularly concerning people I would recommend leaving in charge of my pets.
I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Tania as both a house sitter or as a pet minder. We will certainly be booking her well in advance for our next overseas holiday.
I can be contacted if you wish to discuss anything at all regarding Tania in complete confidence.

So I have moved on from Wahroonga
Wallace and I... just hanging!
May - June 2012
It has surprised me how quickly we get attached to animals, well pets in fact. I have finished my latest house sitting role at Wahroonga in NSW, and in my care at this sit was Wallace and Grommit.
The two very vocal in telling you they actually want the company (or maybe just the comfort of) at home.
We had some fun and giggly times, we had some clean up times, but on a whole I was a little sad to cuddle them and say "Good Bye".
But this week I will see them again.... I need to take the keys back and catch up with their parents: or maybe it was my ulterior motive to see the boys again, I think to myself with a smirk.
Anyway, my house sitting life is taking off and I think I am enjoying it, but as with everything it takes time to adjust and adjust I am doing.
This photo of Wallace and I makes me smile as he sat with me for a good hour or so, just there bouncing off each other.

A little from my valley paradise and the two in my care
And this is Wallace.
I am surprise, having not spent much time with Burmese or Siamese before, at the defining facial structure (which is obviously a characteristic trait between the two) differences, Burmese a lot softer where as Siamese very strong features.
Okay cat lovers I am learning and I can hear some of you going "Doh.... speaking the obviously" but for me it is now something I know for fact and have decided that I have no preference between the two.
Storm, Shadow and Snowball unique. Wallace and Grommit companions and at times very talkative company.
And it is so nice to have loved pets around you when you are home alone, even when you are not in the same room as they are, they are there... snuggled up somewhere, waiting for my call (be it only for food but that is okay too)

House sitting terrace styles
Two of the ones I have shared a home with, and go back and look after...
Shadow and Snowball
there are three: Shadow (the chocolate brown Burmese pictured), Snowball (the second photo) and Storm who I hope to capture but he is a hunter and does not seem to want to hang with me for a photo.
To many other important things to be discovered, stalked and hunted. But hopefully later Storm and I will share a moment.
I am with these three for 8 days so I am sure I can sneak a camera shot during his irregular and short food stops.

I did finally get that photo of Storm

This letter is to provide a house sitting reference for Tania Marie Rickard.Tania Marie has stayed in my home in my absence to look after my three Burmese cats. I found her to be reliable, tidy, clean, considerate and very capable. She is a person who can be relied on and whom I trust with both my pets and my home.
As a result of her success with my cats, have rebooked her for more future dates and would recommend her for any prospective home stay or house sitting.

I WILL LOOK AFTER YOUR HOME AS IF IT WAS MY OWN
my own apartment prior to shifting - early 2012
A while back I wanted to shift closer to my work in Crows Nest, but after living in the Inner West of Sydney and then Sydney Olympic Park area since 2005 found myself unable to pick a suburb closer to my work. I was unsure if I want to live in the CBD, North Shore or even closer to the beaches, and if I did which beach.
So my decision to house sit seemed a natural one: one that gives me flexibility to live where I choose, as long as needed and introduces me to suburbs, places, pets and people that I would never have been able to do before.
I am a very neat, tidy and respectable professional woman, I enjoy being creative, and watching creative people, hence my love of independent and small theatre performances.
As I am a farmers daughter, caring for pets is something that I have grown up with and take in my stride. Prior to shifting to Australia from NZ I was the proud Mother of two cats, brothers named Floyd and Blue, and a black Labrador Retriever called Maddy, who I am sure considered herself human.
I am now taking bookings and house placings for the rest of 2012 (but my diary is filling up as per my schedule at the top of this page) and also 2013. So if you want to ask any questions or discuss with me the possibility of looking after your home, tending to your garden, watering your plants, cuddling your cat and walking your dog please complete the form at the bottom of this page.
I work full time, 8.30 am - 5.00 pm Monday to Friday, have a clean drivers licence and my own transport.
Below I have included a current references and can supply more on request -
