And what a day it was, I was expecting a four hour, two men, one truck removalist turn around, packing it all into a 2.7 x 2.7 square metre storage unit.
None of this happened; I have way too much stuff!!
I was warned but in true Tania fashion, I brushed of those ridiculous comments, what do others know!!.... As I am learning slowly, very slowly in some cases; a lot more than I do!
So what actually transpired was a six hour turn around, at one point six men moving my belongings and a 3 metre by 4 metre storage space.
Doubled my costs in both storage and removal! Just another hiccup I tell myself!
Disaster, possibly but I am all shifted now, all my paintings, my furniture and my things are in one space and I have freed my time and money, so I can start again.
Last time I started again I did it with a suitcase shifting to Australia April 2005, seven years later, I am starting again but this time I have a 3 metre by 4 metre case that holds all that represents my time here in Australia land.
It is amazing how resilient we are, how we bounce back, how we move on… and we try to make the most of what we find ourselves amongst!
I have to, otherwise I will lose faith in everything, I have to make the most of this new opportunity and what windows it will present, as if I don’t I will give up. And let me tell you “give up” has been lingering there for some time, but I am not a giver up’er I am a trouper, and I will still make it.
So today my dear friend Emma (who along with her partner Paul and daughter Chloe has taken me in) and I went walking and what a beautiful cloud free day to walk. We took up a pace and walked our way down the streets of Ultimo to the waterfront of Pyrmont and back up through the crowds, the families and the buzz of Darling Harbour for a well deserved cider before our trek home……
Yes I think life will be okay!! One day at a time, one foot in front of the other
